Welcome to the Swing West site! We're an acoustic trio playing Western Swing and Vintage Country. Our Western Swing is an energetic, entertaining form of Americana blending the elements of Jazz and Country. Our Vintage Country covers the classics of such performers as Hank Williams (Sr), Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Ian Tyson and others. San Diego - based , we first got together to play a music festival in June of 2007 at the Olaf Wieghorst Museum's Western Heritage Days. The music chemistry was immediate, powerful, and fun, so we decided to make the trio a permanent thing. The band consists of David Dekker on guitar and lead vocals, Chris Vitas on violin and Bruce Huntington on acoustic bass, and as of July 2011, the band has been joined by Matt Dekker on guitar and vocals. Matt can be heard playing lead guitar on most cuts of Swing West's new album. Since forming, Swing West has performed at many private and public events, including concerts for San Diego Folk Heritage, the Fallbrook Americana Music Concert Series, the City of Poway’s Fourth of July Celebration, The Cowboy and Western Extravaganza in Warner Springs. Those organizations have all invited us back and Swing West will be the featured performer at the Sam Hinton Folk Festival in 2011, and featured in Poway’s 2011 Summer Concert Series. |

My husband and I first heard Swing West play at Old Poway Park on the 4th of July. My immediate thought was that they are amazing musicians! We hired the band to play at our wedding reception and they did not disappoint. They were FABULOUS! I could listen to their rich smooth sound all day long. Our guests raved about Swing West and are still talking about how much they enjoyed listening and dancing to the music. My husband and I will be attending all their concerts and I’ll be the first in line to buy their CD!
I have had the pleasure of not only hiring the Swing West Band in the past but also playing with Mr. Dekker
on occasions and want to be the first to tell you that his velvet vocals and superb guitar playing is always a crowd pleaser.
Like Dave, the other players in the band have always been highly proficient players and entertainers.
